![]() The challenge at the moment is breaking down the files which is going on at the moment. The guys I have looking into this seem to think we can mod assets like graphics without too much issue. I've no idea if we could mod the game files and get it working on a Playstation but I'd like to try even a PC playable mod would be good. A few slider tweaks and you have a good sim game.Įven if we can only get modern teams and rosters in the game with updated photos I think we'll have something. The issue is NHL 2004 is old now and honesty its a great game but it has limitations, 2K10 is by no means perfect but against NHL 21 it stands up so well I think its a good basis for a mod. NHL 2004 Rebuilt 19/20 and 2KHS are very good mods too and show the potential. I can play NHL2K10 with friends using Parsec and a PS3 emulator. I do enjoy NHL 21 on my Xbox but I cannot play it with my friends as they dont own a console. I've never really come across mods for console games but I know they exist.įifa has a massive modding community on PC who have done great work for years I'd love to do something like this for ice hockey games. So I think the main issue is NHL has become console exclusive and modders are PC players for the large part. As it is just changing them in place is the simplest solution. If the pointers to the strings were located within the save file they could be reassigned aswell. Louis but this can be solved by reserving that space for the teams and repointing the player names to other space. The only thing is that some strings are reused as player names, for example Dallas and St. This game has a list of strings in the save file and the team names are there. I know 2k works different with separate files but anyway the possibility to combine ingame with external editing can save dev/research time. You wanted to be able to continue your save with settings etc. When I made an editor for SVR10 base files for example the need to completely reset the save whenever you wanted to add a new character was a bad consequence. Using save data you can combine ingame editing with external editing and more. I had the opinion that concentrating on base files was better but when it comes to roster info I changed my mind. There would/has to be a standard/default file that should contain all the team data otherwise you couldn't be able to do a complete game reset, I mean its possible this is dumped into a roster file but from my experience Fifa editing the roster files are normally created against a profile using a template. So have you been able to change a team name via a roster file edit? I think its highly unlikely there isn't a base file contain all the fault data. ![]()
